Changelog

New features, improvements, and fixes shipped to Storista.

Shopping from the video player is clearer and more reliable:

  • An "Added to cart" message confirms every add-to-cart.
  • The cart button shows the shopper's current item count as soon as the player opens, and is now available on desktop too.
  • If an item can't be added (for example it's sold out), the shopper sees it right away instead of a false confirmation.
  • Product buttons are stacked full-width, so long translated labels like "In den Warenkorb legen" always fit.

Video grid tiles now reserve their final size before the videos load, so the page no longer shifts around as thumbnails and videos appear. This improves the experience for shoppers and your store's layout-stability score (CLS). On desktop, grid videos also start loading a little earlier as shoppers scroll toward them.

  • Lighter player on iPhone and iPad. Apple devices — about half of all shoppers — no longer download a streaming engine they don't use, making the player's main code less than half its previous size on those devices.
  • Adaptive quality for older videos. Videos imported a long time ago now stream at the right quality for the shopper's connection on Android and desktop, instead of loading the full-size file.
  • No blurry first frame. Videos no longer flash a zoomed-in, blurry frame when they start; the thumbnail stays up until the video is ready to show at the correct size.

Products in the video player now load directly from your Shopify store in a single request per video, which makes them faster and more accurate:

  • Sale prices with the original price crossed out, per variant.
  • Subscription products and subscription pricing.
  • Colour swatches for every option value that has one.
  • Prices, currency and product availability for the shopper's market, and product text in their language.
  • Selecting a variant jumps the gallery to that variant's image.
  • Password-protected stores now show products in the player too.

Each widget now has its own analytics page, opened from the Analytics page.

  • A header with the widget name and type, so you know which placement you are looking at.
  • A device filter that updates every card on the page.
  • Impressions by device, watch time by surface and video completion rate.
  • A per-video breakdown, including each video's tagged products.
  • Influenced and direct revenue for the widget.

Each card loads on its own, so the charts no longer wait for the video table.

Storista analytics

The Analytics page has been rebuilt around one question: is video making you money?

  • Video watchers vs. everyone else. Compare conversion rate, revenue per visitor and average order value for shoppers who watched your videos against your store as a whole.
  • Attribution window. Count purchases made 1, 7 or 30 days after watching. Use 30 days for the big picture, 1 day for this week's results.
  • Shopper funnel. See how many visitors loaded a widget, actually saw a video, watched, added to cart and bought — so you can spot where shoppers drop off.
  • Add-to-cart tracking. Add-to-carts from your videos are now counted and shown as a rate of shoppers who saw your content.
  • Device split, watch time and playback surface. Compare mobile and desktop, and in-page playback against the fullscreen player.
  • Top videos. Find the videos that drive the most engagement and add-to-carts.

Charts show a clear "No data for this date range" message instead of empty axes, and days that are still collecting purchases are drawn dashed so recent days don't look like a drop. Some reports depend on your plan.

Clearer dashboard metrics

  • Improvement
  • Dashboard

The metric tiles on your Dashboard now explain themselves:

  • Every tile states its period ("Last 30 days") and, where relevant, how long purchases are counted after watching.
  • Watcher tiles show how they compare to your store average (for example "3.9x store average").
  • "Saw a video" shows what share of shoppers who loaded a widget actually saw your videos.
  • Up/down changes are only highlighted in green or red when the change is meaningful, so small day-to-day noise doesn't look like bad news.
  • Tiles show a loading skeleton while data loads, and a dash instead of a misleading $0 when there is no data yet.

Automatic captions for your videos

  • New feature
  • Media Library
  • Player

Your videos can now get captions automatically, so shoppers can follow along with the sound off.

  • Generate captions for imported videos in 60 languages. We detect the spoken language and skip videos that already have captions burned into the picture.
  • Upload your own .vtt or .srt file on any plan.
  • Manage captions from the new Captions card on the media detail page: download, replace, delete or generate.
  • See what's captioned with a CC badge on videos in your Media Library and widget editor.
  • Shoppers control captions with a CC button in the player. It only appears on videos that have captions.

Automatic caption generation is included on paid plans.

Accessible widgets and video player

  • Improvement
  • Widgets
  • Player

Storista widgets and the video player were reworked to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility guidelines, so more of your shoppers can browse and buy from your videos:

  • Everything works with a keyboard: open videos, switch between them, pick products and close the player with Escape. Focus is clearly visible and returns to where the shopper started.
  • Screen readers announce buttons, videos and products with meaningful names, and confirm when an item is added to the cart.
  • Auto-scrolling carousels and stories have a pause button and stop moving for shoppers who prefer reduced motion.
  • Buttons and controls meet minimum touch target sizes.
  • All new labels are translated into every language the widgets support.

Your existing custom CSS keeps working — the class names and elements you style are unchanged. Colour contrast and captions on your own videos remain in your hands; automatic captions can help with the latter.

  • Your tab, search, sort order and page are now kept in the page address. Going back from a video, reloading the page or sharing a link brings you to exactly the same view.
  • A new Refresh button in the toolbar shows newly imported or uploaded media without reloading the page.
