Does Storista slow down my Shopify store?

How Storista handles video compression, lazy-loading and Core Web Vitals, and why uploading video directly does not add weight to your storefront.

Written by Irek Khasianov

No. Storista compresses every video internally and serves it from our CDN, not from your Shopify store. That applies whether you sync a video from Instagram or upload the file directly — uploaded files are not stored on your site, so a large source file does not add weight to your storefront.

Where your videos are actually served from

We host serve videos from two CDN's:

  1. Cloudflare - the same CDN Shopify is using

  2. Mux - for Adaptive Bitrate Streaming videos. Mux serves videos from multiple global CDN's

Lazy-loading

Videos load only when they enter the viewport, so a widget below the fold does not delay your initial page load.

Does uploading slow things down more than syncing from Instagram?

No — both paths go through the same compression and are served the same way. Choose whichever fits your workflow.
